MEET JACQUELINE
With a deep commitment to fostering positive change and empowerment I have been positively impacting individuals, families, and communities for more than 24 years. As a skilled therapist, I have worked in specialized treatment agencies, family service agencies, mental health facilities and I have an extensive background in education. My work has supported children, adolescents and adults during their most challenging adversities. I have dedicated my career and expertise in trauma-informed practice which includes the principles of safety, trust, choice, collaboration, empowerment and cultural consideration. I possesses expertise in trauma assessment and treatment with a specific emphasis on racial trauma. I have extensive expertise in race based trauma and I approach work from a culturally responsive, culturally relevant framework. The work that I do is pivotal in that racial trauma can lead to depression, anxiety, and stress and a multitude of other mental health concerns. My own experience has taught me that racism over time, can chip away at one’s emotional, physical, and spiritual resources. I have comprehensive expertise to support clients on this journey. In particular, my experience is far reaching as I have been a clinical director offering specialized consultation services in clinical practice and organizational support. I have trained and supervised staff in the mental health field with an aim to support both the mental health and competency of other professionals in the field which includes but not exclusively social workers, child and youth workers and behavioral therapists. I have collaborated with various organizations and government agencies to develop and implement programs that address the unique challenges faced by marginalized and vulnerable populations. Throughout my career I has demonstrated exceptional leadership as I was one of the first Black Senior Managers in the Educational milieu and in 2021 I was the recipient of the Ontario Association of School Social Work Achievement Award. I have a Master of Social Work degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, an honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Guelph, and I am a published co-author of the, “Wisdom Project''. I hold professional affiliation with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers and I am a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers.
