I am interested in providing community-based organizations, including school boards, children’s mental health agencies, child protection agencies, foster homes, and sexual abuse programs with consultation regarding the following areas: * Accommodating assessment and treatment interventions for learning differences * Planning, developing and implementing programs and interventions from a developmental framework * Assessment and treatment of trauma, sibling sexual abuse, concerning sexual behaviours in children, and adolescents who have committed sexual harm /offences * Case-specific consultation * Ethical decision making processes and dilemmas * Support regarding conceptualization and formulatioin * Child care and after school care settings regarding accommodating programing for learning difference * Child care and after school care settings regarding responding to normative and concerning sexual behaviours through a developmental lens

My training interests include: * Assessment of children under 12 who have engaged in concerning sexual behaviours * Implementation training for using the Guided Assessment of Intervention Needs (GAIN) tool for children engaging in concerning sexual behaviours * Use of psychometric measures for children and youth * Assessment of adolescents who have engaged in sexually abusive behaviour * Assessment of children and youth who have experienced trauma * Conceptualization and formulation of intervention needs for children and youth * Assessing needs and translating them into pragmatic treatment plans * Child development

The Clinical Collective has extensive experience supporting community-based organizations across Canada with creating Community of Practice groups. Working with children and youth who have experienced trauma and or engaged in sexually abusive behaviour is demanding work that requires specialized skills and knowledge. It is work that is best done in a team approach, particularly when clinicians are learning to do this work. Establishing a Community of Practice is one way to support the work and development of the clinical staff. Etienne Wenger defined communities of practice as, “Groups of people who share a concern or a passion for something they do and learn how to do it better as they interact regularly”. The intention of a Community of Practice is to support the learning obtained in training, to enhance the skill set of the clinicians, to provide a space to share information and discuss issues and engage in reflective practice. It needs to be a place where clinicians feel comfortable in sharing their issues and vulnerabilities as they learn together to do this work.

I am dedicated to enhancing the mental wellbeing of children and youth and do so in part by offering a variety of assessment and diagnostic services. As a member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario my practise includes conducting detailed psychological and psychoeducational assessments for children and youth (up to 18 years of age). This includes specialization in the areas of learning assessment, emotional/personality evaluation, as well as psychosocial and behavioural functioning. Upon completion of all assessments undertaken, direct feedback and a detailed report including specific recommendations are provided. If required, collaboration with school-based support teams can be arranged. In addition, I collaborate with other members of our dynamic, inter-professional team to provide comprehensive assessments for children and youth who have experienced trauma, sibling sexual abuse, engaged in concerning sexual behaviours, and adolescents who have committed sexual harm /offences. These evaluations offer insights and recommendations aimed at making a tangible difference in the lives of clients and their families. Referrals can be made by families directly or by community based agencies who are interested in receiving guidance on intervention or treatment. Assessments are not done for court purposes, nor for custody and access disputes, medical or legal investigations. Psychological Assessments may be covered by your extended health insurance, but are not covered by OHIP. Please contact your insurer to determine if you require a physician’s referral for reimbursement and to determine which services are covered.
