About the event

Course Description

Working in a Family Context: Sibling Sexual AbuseSibling sexual abuse is one of the most complex, common and under-discussed forms of child sexual abuse, often leaving families, caregivers, and professionals uncertain about how to respond. Unlike other forms of abuse, sibling sexual abuse occurs within ongoing family relationships—where safety, trust, accountability, and repair must be carefully balanced. This training provides an in-depth exploration of the distinct features of sibling sexual abuse and introduces a structured community protocol to guide decision-making from the moment of disclosure through treatment completion. Central to this approach is the VORS Principle—Voice, Openness, Responsibility, and Safety—which offers a practical framework for creating family-specific, flexible, and dynamic safety plans. By learning to apply these principles, participants will strengthen their ability to support families in navigating safe contact, fostering accountability, and moving toward long-term healing.
