About the event
Course Description
Adolescents who engage in sexually abusive behaviours are a complex and diverse group, with no single profile or path leading to their actions. Unlike adults who commit sexual offences, these youth are still in critical stages of development, shaped by a mix of biological, psychological, relational, and social influences. This training provides a comprehensive introduction to working with youth aged 12–18 who have engaged in sexually abusive behaviour, grounded in developmental and trauma-informed frameworks. Participants will explore the research, learn to distinguish key characteristics and motivations, and gain strategies for fostering engagement in treatment—particularly when involvement is court-mandated or non-voluntary. With a focus on building therapeutic alliances and creating safe, respectful spaces, this series equips professionals with the tools to support meaningful change and long-term safety.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
· Describe the diverse characteristics, motivations, and research findings…
