About the event
Course Description:
Youth with ADHD can experience emotional and behavioural challenges that likely contribute to their overrepresentation within the legal system. Additionally, youth involved in the legal system have higher rates of early life adversity than their non-involved peers, highlighting the need for trauma-informed practices with this population. However, due to significant crossover in the presentation of symptoms related to early life trauma and ADHD, complications can arise for clinicians when determining how to effectively intervene. This training will support participants to gain a better understanding of the experiences of youth with ADHD, how those experiences contribute to higher rates of legal system involvement, and how to approach trauma-specific work with this population in a way that recognizes the need to attend to both.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
· Describe the relationship between ADHD, emotional and behavioural challenges, and youth overrepresentation…
